How it works

Describe The Pain,
Including Where It Travels.

Say where it hurts and where it spreads to — that pattern is what lets the therapist find the point.

All we need from you

Most couples worry they do not have the space. Almost every Dubai apartment does — a living room with the coffee table pushed aside is plenty.

  • About 3 × 3 metres of clear floor — a living room or bedroom both work
  • One power socket for a small speaker and a towel warmer
  • Building access — tell us the security rules and we handle the rest
  • Nothing else. Tables, linens, towels, oils and music all come with us
Still unsure whether this session suits you? Tell us where it hurts — we will say plainly if it fits. Ask us

We booked this for our anniversary and honestly I expected it to feel awkward — two strangers, two tables, our living room. It wasn’t like that at all. They arrived together, moved the coffee table themselves before I could offer, and had everything set up while I was still making tea. Same…

Couple Trigger Point Massage in Dubai

Trigger point work is the narrowest technique on our menu. Instead of covering a body or even a region, the therapist locates specific tender points in the muscle and holds sustained pressure on each one until it releases — usually thirty to ninety seconds per point, sometimes longer.

The reason it exists as a separate technique is referred pain: a knot in one place frequently produces pain somewhere else. The ache between your shoulder blades may be coming from a point in your neck. The headache behind your eye may be coming from a point in your upper trapezius. Working where it hurts sometimes misses the cause entirely.

A couple trigger point session at home in Dubai means two DHA-licensed therapists, two tables, both sessions on the same clock — and very often a split booking, with one partner taking the targeted work and the other taking something considerably gentler.

What a Trigger Point Actually Is

A trigger point is a small, hypersensitive nodule within a taut band of muscle. Press it and it produces two things: local tenderness, and referred sensation somewhere else along a fairly predictable pattern.

They’re palpable. A therapist can usually feel one — a distinct hardened spot within an otherwise softer band.

They refer predictably. The patterns are well documented. Points in the upper trapezius refer up the neck and into the head. Points in the glutes refer down the back of the leg. Points in the shoulder refer down the arm.

They cause more than local pain. Weakness, restricted range and a general sense that a region isn’t working properly all commonly accompany them.

They come from overuse, poor posture, injury or stress — which is why they’re so common in desk-working, driving, phone-holding populations.

How the Session Works

Assessment first. The therapist asks where it hurts and, crucially, where it travels. That referral pattern is what narrows down where to look.

Palpation. The therapist works through the likely region with fingers or thumb, feeling for the taut band and the nodule within it. When they find it, you’ll usually know — the referred sensation reproduces.

The hold. Sustained direct pressure applied to the point and held. Thirty to ninety seconds is typical. The sensation builds, plateaus, and then usually starts to ease — that easing is the release.

Breathe out through the hold. This matters more than anything else you do. Slow exhalation lets the muscle release; breath-holding does the opposite.

Release and reassess. The therapist releases, works the surrounding tissue briefly, and checks whether the point has softened. Sometimes a second or third hold is needed.

Surrounding work. Once the point releases, the therapist works the whole band and the surrounding muscle so it doesn’t immediately retighten.

Repeat for each point. Two or three points is realistic in thirty minutes. Four or five in an hour with surrounding work included.

The Intensity, Stated Honestly

This is the part people should know before booking.

During the hold it’s genuinely intense. Not unbearable, but noticeably more than a firm massage. Most people describe it as sharp but satisfying — the sensation of something being addressed directly.

It should be breathable. If you’re gripping the table, holding your breath or pulling away, the pressure has gone past useful. Say so immediately and it eases.

The relief is immediate. The moment the pressure lifts, the point usually feels dramatically better. This contrast is why people tolerate the hold.

Referred sensation is a good sign. If pressing a point in your shoulder produces the ache you normally get in your neck, that’s confirmation the therapist has found the right spot.

Some soreness afterwards is normal. Local tenderness at the worked points for a day or so, like a bruise that isn’t there. Water and gentle movement help.

What It’s Good For

Tension headaches. The most common reason people book it. Points in the upper trapezius, the sternocleidomastoid and the suboccipital muscles refer into the head with distinctive patterns, and addressing them directly often works when generic neck massage hasn’t.

The knot between the shoulder blades that comes back every week.

Pain down an arm that isn’t nerve-related — frequently referred from points in the shoulder or upper back.

Lower back pain with a hip origin. Glute points refer into the lower back and down the leg, and they’re routinely missed.

Jaw and facial tension from clenching, where points in the masseter and temporalis refer around the face and head.

Restricted range in a joint where the limitation is muscular rather than structural.

The one spot you can’t reach yourself and have been pressing with a tennis ball against a wall for months.

Who Should Book Something Else

General tiredness or overall tension. Trigger point work is deliberately narrow. If everything aches, take a full body — Swedish or deep tissue.

Wanting to relax. This is the least relaxing session on the menu. It’s therapeutic work and it’s intense. Book relaxation or Swedish if the goal is switching off.

First-time massage receivers. Start somewhere gentler.

Anything with nerve signs. Numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain radiating in a clear nerve pattern down a limb — see a doctor or physiotherapist first. Trigger point referral and nerve pain are different things and the distinction matters.

Pregnancy. The prenatal-adapted session is deliberately gentle — moderate pressure, side-lying, abdomen avoided. Trigger point work isn’t part of it.

Acute injury. Fresh strains and recent injuries need assessment first.

The Couple Split

Most trigger point bookings we take are splits, and the format is built for it.

One table takes the targeted work. The other takes Swedish, relaxation, aromatherapy or reflexology at whatever pressure suits. Both start and finish together, and the price is the same as two matching sessions.

This matters because trigger point work is genuinely not something both partners usually want at the same time. One person has the headache pattern; the other wants an hour of rest.

What It Honestly Does and Doesn’t Do

What it does: releases specific tight points in muscle, often relieves referred pain that generic massage misses, improves local range of motion, and frequently produces noticeable relief within a single session.

What it doesn’t do: it doesn’t treat any diagnosed medical condition, it doesn’t address nerve compression, it doesn’t fix structural problems, and it isn’t physiotherapy or dry needling.

It’s not a permanent fix on its own. Trigger points recur if the cause persists. If your desk setup, your posture or your training load created the point, it will come back. Massage manages it; changing the cause resolves it.

When to see someone else: persistent pain that doesn’t respond, nerve signs, pain following an injury, pain that wakes you at night, or anything that’s worsening. A doctor or physiotherapist first.

We are a licensed home massage service, not a medical provider. Nothing here is medical advice.

Safety Notes and When to Postpone

Nerve signs — numbness, tingling, weakness, radiating pain in a clear pattern: see a doctor or physiotherapist first.

Recent injury, surgery or acute inflammation: the area waits until cleared.

Blood thinners, clotting disorders or easy bruising: sustained point pressure increases bruising risk. Mention at booking; pressure is moderated.

Fibromyalgia or widespread chronic pain conditions: mention at booking. Trigger point work can help but can also aggravate, and the approach needs adjusting. Your doctor’s guidance matters.

Osteoporosis: sustained pressure isn’t appropriate over fragile bone. Gentle Swedish instead.

High blood pressure or heart conditions: mention at booking.

Skin conditions, open wounds or serious sunburn: the area is avoided.

Fever or active infection: postpone.

Pregnancy: not part of the prenatal-adapted session.

Session Lengths

Thirty minutes is the targeted session: two or three points located, held and released, with brief surrounding work. Efficient and genuinely useful if you know exactly where the problem is.

Sixty minutes is the standard — four or five points with proper surrounding release, which stops them retightening immediately. The length most people should take.

Ninety minutes adds a Swedish finish across the body after the targeted work, which is the most comfortable way to have it: the intense part first, then something restful.

What to Tell the Therapist

Where it hurts. Specific — “the inside edge of my right shoulder blade” beats “my back.”

Where it travels. The single most useful thing you can say. “It starts here and goes up into my neck and behind my eye” locates the point faster than anything else.

When it’s worst. Mornings, after driving, at the end of the working day — the pattern suggests the cause.

What you’ve tried. Stretching, a tennis ball against the wall, previous massage. Useful context.

Any diagnosis. If a doctor or physiotherapist has assessed this, say what they found.

Pricing

One figure covers both partners — both therapists, both tables, all linens and towels, the oils, and the travel. Quoted in the message before you book and matched at the door.

No surcharge for trigger point work, no per-therapist multiplication, no travel fee by area, and no late-slot premium. Trigger point on one table and Swedish on the other costs the same as two of either.

Coverage Across Dubai

Couple trigger point massage runs to every area we serve — the coastal belt, the central districts, the villa belt, the eastern corridor, old Dubai’s quarters, the southern reach and across into Sharjah.

Arrival windows vary honestly by distance: coastal and central inside about an hour, villa belt and eastern corridor around an hour and a quarter, far southern communities and Sharjah at an hour and a half with half a day’s notice.

Frequently Asked Questions — Couple Trigger Point Massage Dubai

Does it hurt?

Genuinely intense during the hold — sharp but satisfying rather than unbearable — with immediate relief when the pressure lifts. If you’re gripping the table, say so and it eases.

How is it different from deep tissue?

Deep tissue works along muscle bands with sustained gliding pressure. Trigger point locates specific nodules and holds static pressure on each until it releases. Narrower and more targeted.

What’s referred pain?

A knot in one place producing pain somewhere else along a predictable pattern — which is why the ache behind your eye may be coming from a point in your shoulder.

Will one session fix my headaches?

Often it produces noticeable relief, but trigger points recur if the cause persists. If your desk setup or posture created the point, it’ll come back — massage manages it, changing the cause resolves it.

Can my partner have something gentler?

Most of these bookings are exactly that — trigger point on one table, Swedish or relaxation on the other, both starting together, same price.

Will I be sore afterwards?

Local tenderness at the worked points for a day or so, like a bruise that isn’t there. Water and gentle movement help.

I have numbness down my arm — should I book?

See a doctor or physiotherapist first. Numbness, tingling and weakness are nerve signs, and they’re different from trigger point referral.

What should I tell the therapist?

Where it hurts and where it travels to. That referral pattern locates the actual point faster than anything else you can say.

Book Your Couple Trigger Point Massage in Dubai

Describe the pain properly — where it starts and where it goes — and book something gentler for the other table if your partner would rather not have an hour of sustained pressure. Two licensed therapists arrive with everything needed, both tables rise in your own room, and the specific point that has been causing a headache you’ve been treating with paracetamol for six months finally gets addressed directly.
